Bad weather affects flights in Jomsom
MUSTANG: Tourism sector in Mustang is suffering hard as flights from Jomsom have been cancelled for the past five days.
On account of the low visibility, no flight has taken off the Jomsom Airport since Wednesday, informed the Airport Chief Surya Bahadur Khatri.
After the flights were cancelled, numbers of tourists entering the district via roadways have increased, Khatri added.
According to Khatri, the change in country’s weather and the increase in fire cases in Myagdi district have affected the visibility in the area. “There is still no sign of rain, tourists are now willing to return at the earliest as their visa would expire shortly.”
A total of 15 flights on a daily basis are scheduled from the Airport by airline companies including Tara, Simrik and Mountain Airways. Of the total tourists’ influx in the district, 40 per cent arrive via the airways, Khatri stated.
