Badal threatens to set up ‘street parliament’

LAMJUNG: General secretary of Unified CPN-Maoist Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’ said that they would quit the House if the sankalpa prastav they registered in the parliament against the President’s move was not discussed.

He also warned of making another parliament going among people in the street.

Accusing that Nepali Congress, UML and the CA chairman of not letting the proposal for discussion, Badal said that his party’s cooperation would end in case the sankalpa prastav was not entertained. Speaking at a press meet organised by Maoist-affiliated Revolutionary Journalists’ Organisation at Beshisahar of Lamjung today, he clarified that his party was not insisting for a government under its leadership. He added that the government led by any party would be acceptable if the “civil supremacy” was restored.

Stating that the parliament could not be operated because of NC and UML, he claimed that the constitution could not be promulgated within the timeframe if such a situation persisted.

“The present government will topple soon and a national government of all parties will be formed,” he claimed.

The senior Maoist leader also said they were open to integrate the PLA fighters in Nepal army, Armed Police Force and other security bodies.
