KATHMANDU, JUNE 14

The death toll from the jeep accident that occurred on Friday evening at Astu Batasedanda in Dhorpatan Municipality-5, Baglung, has risen to four.

According to police, the incident occurred when the jeep (Lu Pra 01001 Cha 1775), en route from Burtibang Bazaar to Chaur in Dhorpatan Municipality-5, veered off the road and plunged about 60 meters at around 5:45 pm.

Nar Bahadur Karki (70), and Bhim Kumari Budha (75), of Dhorpatan Municipality-2, died on the spot.

Meanwhile, Tika Kumari Kunwar (21) of the same ward, who was critically injured, succumbed to her injuries while being transported to Pokhara after receiving initial treatment at Burtibang Provincial Hospital. Another victim, Man Kumari Thapa (75), died on Saturday morning while undergoing treatment at Manipal Hospital in Pokhara.

Twelve others sustained injuries in the accident. Among the injured are jeep driver Govinda Thapa (27); Lumbini Mahat (18); Indra Kunwar (23); Nirmaya Khatri (29); Devi Pariyar (38); Durgi Darji (53); Anju Pariyar (12); Biyano Budha Magar (8); Binay Budha (5); Dalli BK (35); Shishir Karki (11); and Tanmaya Kunwar (30). All are residents of various wards of Dhorpatan Municipality.

The injured are receiving treatment at Manipal Hospital in Pokhara and Mission Hospital in Palpa.
