BAITADI: A six-year-old girl was mauled to death by a leopard in Tallo Swarad in Baitadi district on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Hari Chand's daughter Chanchala Chand from Mahakali Byaldham of Udayadev–9, said a local Birendra Mahata. The girl is a second grader at local Gangeshwor Primary School.

The girl was playing at the front yard of her house when the leopard attacked. The leopard took the girl and her mutilated body was found at 10 pm after an intensive search 400 metres away from her house.

The Baitadi District Police Office said that more details could be known once a police team would reach the incident site, which is one and a half days' walk from the district headquarters Dasharath Chand Municipality.

The leopard attacks have claimed 20 lives so far in Tallo Swarad only.
