Bajura man struggles in hospital due to financial crisis
BAJURA: Badure Damai (44), a resident of Badimalika Municipality-7, is struggling financially to receive treatment for his ailment. He has been on the hospital bed of Bajura District Hospital for three months.
Damai has a wound in his right feet which the doctors have not been able to cure even after treating it for the last three months. According to Dr Durgaraj Maharjan at the District Hospital, Damai needs to be transferred to a well-facilitated hospital to carry out a surgical procedure in order to heal his wound and to carry out other tests.
Damai, in tears, said he would now go back home as there was no other alternative for him in lack of money for further treatment.
Doctors had amputated his left leg due to an injury five years ago. His health problem elevated when the infection spread to his right leg. Doctors have suggested him to seek further treatment either in Nepalgunj or Kathmandu but he is unable to afford it. They have also urged people for support.
Family of Badure Damai is in a delicate financial condition. Damai, who brings food in the house by sewing clothes of other people, has been in the hospital for such a long period. The family doesn't own a single piece of land or any other assets that could be sold to acquire some money for his treatment.
They have not received any support yet although effort for fund collection was made in the municipality, said Kalu Damai, wife of Badure Damai.
