Ballot papers, voter IDs printed: EC
Kathmandu, April 20
The Election Commission has completed printing of ballot papers and voter identity cards needed for local level elections slated for May 14.
The poll panel said ballot papers and voter identity cards would be dispatched to districts once all voter IDs were laminated.
“Voter IDs of a few districts are yet to be laminated,” said Election Commissioner Narendra Dahal. He said printing of electoral rolls, being printed in the EC’s central office, will be over within a few days.
The EC has printed about 16 million ballot papers, and 14,054,482 voter IDs of eligible voters under high security. The poll panel had sought Nepali Army’s security cover while printing ballot papers and printed voter IDs and electoral rolls on its premise under high security. The poll panel said it would not allow anyone to cast vote without voter ID and has planned to distribute voter identity cards from May 11 to 13.
According to commissioner Dahal, the EC has already started supplying electoral materials in the districts across the country. He said the commission had completed all necessary preparation for the elections.
