Ban YCL if it’s criminal league: Maoist MPs

Kathmandu, June 6:

Maoist members of parliament today challenged Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala to ban the Young Communist League if it is a criminal league as claimed by him. However, MPs of other parties supported the Prime Ministers’s version and called the Maoists to control their sister organisation.

“Why don’t you ban the YCL if it is a criminal group,” challenged Maoist MPs Uma Bhugel and Manju Bam. Bhugel also wanted to know the truth behind the killing of YCL cadres in the Tarai.

MPs Bhugel, Phurvi Sherpa and Mahendra Paswan wanted the PM to explain why he termed YCL a criminal league.

Mangal Bishwokarma urged the government to implement Rayamajhi Commission report and take action against criminals. Nepali Congress MP Kamala Panta Acharya urged the parties to stop blaming each other.

Nepali Congress (D) MP Prakash Sharan Mahat wanted the Maoists to ensure that the YCL would not work against the eight-party alliance. Rastriya Prajatantra Party MP Pashupati SJB Rana said there was no government in the country.

Nepali Congress MP Rajendra Kharel called the government to announce the CA poll date.
