Bandh and blasts as NC meeting concludes

Rautahat, February 7:

The Nepali Congress (NC) mass meet concluded amid bandh called by the different organisations and bomb blasts in the district headquarter Gaur today.

Various Tarai groups including Samyukta Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha, JTMM-J, Tarai Army and Tarai Utthan Revolutionary calling Rautahat bandh detonated bombs in different places in the district today.

Normal life came to a halt after eight bombs were detonated in various places including Mahadevpatti, Sapgadha, Garudha bazaar, Shreeram Sugar Mills, Motiyahi Bridge.

A large number of security personnel were deployed in Gaur and movement of people were restricted in Indo-Nepal border during the mass meet. No untoward situation occurred in Gaur, SP Laxman Neupane said.

As the movement of people were restricted in Indo-Nepal border, eight-month-old Shekh Nasir, son of Shekh Wakil, of Bishrampur-7 died as he could not be taken for treatment.

Addressing the mass meet organised by the Rautahat chapter of Nepali Congress at Barrack Ground in Gaur, former PM and NC senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba, said there would be birth of another autocrat if Nepali Congress don’t get majority votes in the election.

He stressed the need of voting the NC to protect democracy in the nation. He asked the Tarai rebels to come for talks.
