District Education Office Tanahun has blocked the bank accounts of 50 community schools owing to failure to complete infrastructure development in the last fiscal in the district.

The accounts of schools were blocked as they couldn’t complete building infrastructure though they were supposed to complete it the last fiscal, said DEO sub-engineer Shambhu Poudel.

Though budget was issued to schools, it has now been blocked. If the schools do not complete their tasks by mid-October, the salaries of the head teachers of the respective schools will also be blocked, informed DEO.

The office had distributed infrastructure development fund worth Rs 42 million last year.

DEO Bishnu Prasad Adhikari said schools are under pressure to submit report. “We have urged them to conduct social auditing after completion of infrastructure by mid-September,” said Adhikari. Last year, the office had blocked accounts of 60 schools for failure to submit their report on time in the district.
