Bank in Tanahun faces shortage of new notes for Dashain

DAMAULI: The Nepal Bank Limited (NBL) based in Tanahun has been facing shortage of new notes for the Dashain festival.

According to Bank Manager Dhruba Paudel, the bank has been facing fresh notes crunch after the Pokhara-based NBL sent limited amount of new notes. Hence, the bank has not been able to exchange new notes for the greatest and longest festival.

Around Rs 300-350 million of new notes are on demand this year.

Though, notes of small denominations like Rs 10, Rs 20, Rs 50 and Rs 100 are in high demand, the Pokhara branch sent notes of only Rs 500 and Rs 1000, Paudel said.

Due to the crowd gathered in the bank, 20 employees are being compelled to work at night as well, he informed.

Last year, the bank had exchanged around Rs 20 million in the festive season.
