BARA, JULY 4
The Division Forest Office, Bara, has reclaimed around 15 bighas of national forest land in Sakhuwaha of Kolhabi Municipality-5 after removing decades-long encroachment.
According to the office, the land had been occupied and cultivated by locals for nearly two decades, with much of the encroachment dating back to the Maoist insurgency period.
A joint team of forest officials, Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force carried out the operation under security arrangements. Although no permanent structures were found on the site, the land had been under cultivation.
Division Forest Officer Sujit Kumar Jha said repeated notices had been issued asking occupants to vacate the area before the clearance operation was launched.
The reclaimed land will now be fenced and replanted with forest and fruit species to prevent further encroachment. The office said it would continue legal action against illegal occupation of national forest land.
