BARDIYA: Locals of Bardiya district are being compelled to consume water with arsenic for no preventive measures is available here.

The water coming from tube well and supplied from the government in the district is found to be contaminated with arsenic.

Bardiya is the third among 10 arsenic-affected districts of Tarai region. Though various organisations including the Red Cross had distributed filters in the affected districts, they have already turned out to be dysfunctional, said locals.

Health workers have cautioned that the continuous consumption of such water for 10 years would affect human health with the arsenic disease.
