DHANBAD, FEBRUARY 22
CPN-UML leader Mahesh Basnet today accused CPN-Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and CPN (Unified Socialist) Chair Madhav Kumar Nepal of showing double standards and hypocrisy in connection with the American development project Millennium Challenge Corporation compact.
Speaking at a programme organised by Press Chautari Nepal, Kailai, Basnet charged that Dahal and Nepal's dubious role had spread rumours about the Millennium Challenge Corporation and polarised the country.
Basnet reiterated that Dahal's immature steps pertaining to the MCC had sparked controversy and polarisation.
"Dahal and Nepal have pushed the country into conflict," Basnet alleged.
Basnet flayed Dahal for writing a joint letter with Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba stating commitment to approving the MCC from the Parliament in five months. "Dahal is responsible for making the country a playground for international power centres," Basnet stated.
Basnet asked Dahal and Nepal to take responsibility for the violence and damage caused by their cadres and leaders in the street in the name of MCC.
On a different note, Basnet said that the current ruling alliance had become a burden to the country and people.
