Bharatpur, Narayangadh declared no horn zone

CHITWAN: The Traffic Police Office here in Chitwan, has decided to implement no horn zone, thanks to the wise decision that helped in fostering traffic discipline in Kathmandu and Pokhara.

The decision would come into effect from tomorrow.

As per the decision made by the Chitwan District Traffic Police Office, drivers have been banned from unnecessary honking in the Bharatpur-based central bus terminal area, Chaubiskothi, Narayangadh bazaar highway, Aptari and the bypass road section.

Moreover, honking has been prohibited in the district's inner traffic routes, according to the Office.

A meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief District Officer Narayan Prasad Bhatta to seek better ways of traffic management on August 1, had decided to ban unnecessary honking in Bharatpur and Narayangadh to be effective from August 17.

Following the decision, the office has launched the publicity campaign to inform the public.

According to police, motorists violating the rule for the first time would face fines of Rs 500, mounting to Rs 1,000 and Rs 1,500 for second and third time, respectively.
