New amendment bill brought to thwart elections, says Rawal

DHANGADHI: CPN-UML Vice-Chairman Bhim Rawal accused the government of introducing the new Constitution amendment bill with an intent to thwart local level elections.

He went on to say that the discussions reportedly held among the ruling parties about holding the polls in two phases were also a ploy against the elections, scheduled for May 14.

Speaking with journalists in Dhangadhi of Kailali district today, the UML leader, however, maintained that his party had already devoted itself to the polls and they should not be stopped.

He was of the belief that the agitating Madhesi parties would also come to the election process whereas people in all parts of the nation were eagerly waiting to vote.

Meanwhile, the party demanded that the government hold the polls in a free and fearless environment.
