Bhojpur District Hospital resumes caesarean section service
BHOJPUR: Bhojpur District Hospital has resumed the caesarean section service after two years. The hospital had discontinued the service in the absence of doctors specialised in the area.
The caesarean section is a surgical procedure in which an opening is made in a woman's body in order to deliver one or more babies.
With the resumption of the service, 18-year-old Chandrakala Tamang of Bhojpur Municipality-7 successfully delivered a healthy baby on Monday, according to Information Officer at the District Health Office (DHO), Raju Kumar Shrestha.
According to health workers at the hospital, pregnant women in the district had to visit health institutions in other districts due to the unavailability of caesarean section service at the hospital.
District Health Officer Krishna Mijar said, 5 to 10 per cent of the women visiting the hospital for the parturition service require caesarean section.
Prior to this, the women seeking the delivery service using this method were being referred to the Dharan-Based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, DHO Mijar informed.
