Bhotekoshi flood sweeps away six more houses in last 24 hrs

CHAUTARA: Six more houses were swept away by the flooded Bhotekoshi River from Tatopani of Sindhupalchok district, near the Nepal-Tibet border, in last 24 hours.

On the other hand, security agencies rescued seven persons who were stranded in the flood-hit area, according to Chief of the District Police Office, SP Rabindra KC.

Those taking shelter in local Chaukidanda have been airlifted to Barhabise today, KC informed.

In past one week, several houses have been swept away by the floods. Of around 200 people living in the affected areas, 87 have been rescued by security personnel so far while some dozens headed toward safety on their own.

According to KC, around 30 to 40 persons are living in the village, waiting for rescue and relief.
