KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 18

The Bhutanese community in Nepal observed the 118th National Day of the Kingdom of Bhutan by expressing heartfelt congratulations and paying tribute to the Druk Gyalpo, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, for his visionary leadership, unwavering benevolence, and profound wisdom.

The event commemorated the Wangchuck Dynasty, whose visionary leadership has led Bhutan on a unique path of peace, progress, and Gross National Happiness.

The celebration was supported by the Honorary Consul of the Royal Government of Bhutan to Nepal, Dorji Gyaltshen Lama, and his family. The event was also attended by Gehendra Rajbhandari, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and former Ambassador of Nepal to Belgium, who reflected on the friendly relations between the two countries.

Lama, who recently assumed the position of Honorary Consul, reaffirmed his firm commitment to serving the interests of the Royal Government of Bhutan and Bhutanese in Nepal, as well as strengthening the Kingdom of Bhutan's long-standing bonds of friendship, goodwill, and cooperation with Nepal.

"The commemoration was a dignified expression of unity and national pride, reflecting the Bhutanese people's unwavering loyalty and devotion to Tsa-Wa-Sum-the King, the Country, and the People," as per the statement issued by the community.

The programme also highlighted the king's vision for inclusive and sustainable nation building, emphasising the role of Bhutanese citizens, including those living abroad, in contributing through service, integrity, and innovation while remaining true to Bhutanese values.
