Bid to attack two police posts
Bhairahawa, February 5:
Samyukta Madhesi Morcha (SMM) cadres made attempts to attack two police posts in Rupandehi district today.
SMM cadres tried to attack two police posts — Dhakdhai Area Police Office (APO) and Bethari Police Post — in the district, the Rupandehi District Police Office (DPO) said.
SMM cadres resorted to the attacks with the demand to release those arrested who were involved in setting fire to goods at police posts in Bagaha and Mainahiya of Rupandehi recently.
The agitators attempted to attack Dhakdhai APO this morning. The police fired five rounds of bullets in the air after the situation turned abnormal. “As sufficient number of security personnel was deployed, condition is becoming normal,” Rupandehi DPO said. The site lies some 15 kilometres east of Bhairahawa.
Cadres of the Samyukta Madhesi Morcha also obstructed the Hulaki road of the Parasi-Bhairahawa road section and the Bhairahawa-Taulihawa road section by burning tyres in different places.
