Birgunj hospital talks postponed

Birgunj, January 29:

The proposed talks between the agitating health workers of the National Medical College and the management were postponed today. The talks were deferred after the health workers declined to sit for talks with the managing director of the teaching hospital and demanded that the chairman should come for the talks.

The talks were scheduled for 10:00 am. The health workers are agitating by putting forward their 21-point demand. The talks could now be held only after a few days as chairman Dr Jainuddin Ansari is out of station, said managing director Basaruddin Ansari. Health workers said they did not want to talk to the managing director as he failed to meet the promises on several occasions in the past. All services, including the emergency service, have been disrupted due to the strike since Wednesday.
