KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 20
Bishnu Prasad Paudel, who filed his candidacy from Rupandehi-2, has pledged to pursue physical and human development simultaneously.
Paudel, who also serves as Vice Chair of the CPN (UML), unveiled a "Comprehensive Commitments Paper" on Friday ahead of the House of Representatives (HoR) election. The document outlines multi-dimensional plans covering education, health, employment, urban development, industry and trade, agriculture, tourism, and good governance.
The party has committed to developing Rupandehi-1 into a model zone in the areas of education, health, employment, industry, infrastructure, and agriculture. It also envisions transforming Rupandehi into a leading economic centre nationwide through constitutional protection, promotion of social justice, equity, and good governance.
Key proposals in the document include upgrading Lumbini Buddhist University, attracting more domestic and international students, prioritising infrastructure development and the operation of Butwal Medical College, establishing agricultural and engineering campuses, and promoting technical education.
Paudel further stated that he would focus on upgrading the Butwal-Pokhara road section, constructing bridges at strategic locations, and expanding local road connectivity. The commitments paper also promises the implementation of the Greater Lumbini Area Development Programme, encompassing Butwal, Tilottam, and Sainamaina.
