Black marketing of petroleum products rampant in Parsa

RAUTAHAT/BIRGUNJ: At a time when the country is reeling under acute shortage of fuel due to blockade at Nepal-India border points and Tarai agitation, black marketing of petroleum products has become rampant in Thori VDC of Parsa district in the Narayani Zone of Southern Nepal.Petrol, diesel and liquefied petroleum gas are being sold on the bank of Thute Khola of Thori VDC round the clock in front of security personnel.Though most of the people involved in black marketing are Indians, their main consumers and protectors are Nepalis.People from various districts like Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Nuwakot, Sindhupalchok, Kavre, Dhading, Baglung, Gulmi, Tanahun, Chitwan and Hetaunda among others have been found thronging the VDC to buy the petroleum products.It has been reported that petrol is being sold at Rs 130 per litre, diesel at 150 per litre and LPG at Rs 5,000 per cylinder.Many youths living in the bordering villages have made black marketing of petroleum products as their main profession, of late.Around 150,000 litre petroleum products, brought from various petrol pumps in Jamuniya and Naraktiyagunj among others, are being sold on a daily basis.
