Maoists detonated two powerful bombs at the regional office of the Livestock Service Training Centre (LSTC) and Grazing and Fodder Development Firm (GFDF) at 2pm today.

According to the Deputy Superintendent of Police Tapendra

Dhoj Hamal of the District Police Office, a group of around 12 Maoists ordered the guards at the two offices to flee before detonating the bombs.

A pressure cooker bomb was planted in the Grazing and Fodder Development Firm building, which completely destroyed the entire ground floor of the building. A few minutes later, there was another explosion at the entrance of LSTC.

Five trainees and around 36 members of the staff who were asleep at the time sustained slight injuries, incurred mostly due to the shattering of the window panes.

All the injured have returned after receiving treatment at the Janakpur Zonal Hospital.

The DPO informed that though the Maoists had hurled two socket bombs while fleeing, these did not go off.

It is reported that that DPO personnel who were at a distance of around 200 metres from the site of explosions, fired a few rounds in the direction of the blasts, but the District Police Office has not confirmed this.

The primary estimate suggests that a loss of at least Rs five million was incurred in the blasts.
