Blind demand employment

Pokhara, March 8:

Visually impaired people staged a half-an-hour long chakkajam in Pokhara today demanding employment for the unemployed blind.

The chakkajam, organised by the Blind Unemployed Struggle Committee (BUSC), continued from 12 pm to 12: 30 in front of Prithvi Narayan Campus, Pokhara, this afternoon. Participants also chanted slogans and sang songs. Addressing the concluding programme, organised after chakkajam, Shreekanta Sapkota, spokesperson of Kaski BUSC, said the government paid no heed about their four-point demands.

The struggle will continue unless their demands were met, he said. Sarita Acharya, a blind student said that the government itself was being blind.
