Blockade a chance for nation building: Dahal
Dang, January 10
Unified CPN-Maoist (UCPN-Maoist) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal today said that the blockade at the border points was an opportunity to be independent and help increase country’s national dignity and prosperity.
Dahal claimed that the government and the major parties would settle the ongoing Tarai crisis and blockade keeping the nation’s interest at the centre.
Addressing the Third District Conference of Revolutionary Journalists’ Union in Ghorahi, Dang, Dahal held that crisis arising from the blockade would be resolved diplomatically. “The promulgation of a new statute has caused the blockade in Nepal. In this challenging time, there is urgent need of national unity to solve the national problem,” Dahal added.
Dahal argued that Nepal was facing the blockade due to some leaders and groups’ discontent with the newly promulgated constitution. “But, we want to maintain friendly and cordial relations with all countries including India and China for the nation’s development,” Dahal said.
At another programme organised by Dang chapter of Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Dang, Dahal termed the current fiscal as characterized by uncommon events. “However, the deadly quake followed by the blockade has also given an opportunity to build the nation,” Dahal added.
