Body formed to monitor polls

Baglung, November 23:

With the objective of implementing the election code of conduct during the municipal elections, a district-level monitoring committee has been formed in Baglung.

The municipal elections are slated to be held on February 8.

While the chief district officer (CDO), Janak Raj Adhikari, and district election officer, Bhawa Nath Khatiwada, are the coordinator and member-secretary of the committee, local development officer Bhakti Bilas Subedi, district attorney

Ram Chandra Poudel and deputy superintendent of police Shiv Hari Baskota, and acting executive officer of Baglung municipality, Yukta Prasad Subedi, are the committee members.

The district election officer, Khatiwada, said preparations had been made to conduct the elections.

One polling centre each has been established in each ward of the municipality, he said, adding that there were 15,458 voters in 11 wards of Baglung municipality.

Polling booths have been established in Phulbari, Bal Mandir Bhawan, Bauddha Bihar Nayabazaar, Dhaulagiri Birendra Secondary School Ratamata, Saraswoti Primary School Simle, Ward Office Ramche, Bishwakarma Secondary School Mulpani, Bhagawati Primary School Sim, Ward Office Laharepipal, Kundule Lower Secondary School Kundule and Red Cross Godown Upallochaur respectively, the District Election Office said.
