DHANGADHI: Unidentified persons detonated a bomb on the premises of the house belonging to CPN Maoist Centre's mayoral candidate Gokarna Bhatta in Godawari Municipality of Kailali district in the wee hours of Friday.

The explosion took place after the unidentified persons pitched the bomb targeting Bhatta's house in Attariya Bazaar at around 2:45 am today, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Bir Bahadur Budha Magar of the Kailali District Police Office.

A door and windows were damaged in the explosion, however, no human casualties have been reported, DSP Budha Magar added.

The investigation into the case is underway while the search is on for the perpetrators, said police.

Bhatta is a younger brother of  the Province 7 incharge CPN-MC leader Lekh Raj Bhatta.
