Boost for dropouts

RUKUM: Students who dropped out of formal education have benefited from the open school education run by Ministry of Education in Chaurajahari area of the district. The programme for the deprived community started on April 14.

According to Mohanraj Gharti Magar, vice-chairman, Shital Higher Secondary School, who is also the programme facilitator, over 100 students have been enrolled in the 50-seat programme run at the school.

“This programme is particularly for the deprived people,” Magar said. “It also aims at educating the conflict-hit and those who quit their studies during the insurgency.”

The students of the only open school in the district can sit in the School Leaving Certificate examination once they score at least 37 per cent marks in the locally administered internal assessment.
