Booth with two voters!
Nawalparasi, April 7:
Welcome to the temporary polling booth at the Parasi district prison, where two voters will be casting votes in the presence of three election officials and two security personnel.
An election officer, an assistant election officer and another election staffer will be deployed here to conduct the polls smoothly. On top of that, two security personnel will be deployed to make sure that no untoward incident takes place during voting.
The prison has 34 eligible voters on its temporary voters’ list, but only two prisoners are there among them, chief election officer Kashinath Pokhrel said. “A polling booth needs to have at least 1,150 voters. The polling booth was established in the prison as prisoners cannot be taken out of the prison for the polls,” he said. The ballot box will be taken away from the prison only after 5 pm. Pokhrel, the election officer in Nawalparasi constituency no. 4, said, “We will man the polling booth in the prison from 07:00 am till 5:00 pm.”
