RAUTAHAT, JULY 1

A school is usually considered a temple of education where moral and other lessons are taught to students in order to prepare them for the future. But, a school in Rautahat has made headlines by organising a booze party.

The booze party came into limelight after a video went viral showing teachers enjoying booze and listening to lewd music in school building at Secondary School of Dhanari of Gadhimai Municipality-7 on Wednesday.

The party was revealed when local youths secretly filmed the party which was consented by Principal Kapildev Yadav and attended by over a dozen teaching and non-teaching staffers. In the video, the party participants could be seen enjoying both hard and soft drinks.

Locals have condemned the 'booze party' and sought action, citing the Education Act, which prohibits sale and distribution of cigarettes, tobacco and liquor within 500 radius from the school premises. Upon asked, Kapildev Yadav admitted mistake and said he had apologised with local society and guardians.

"I know it was mistake on our party; I am ready to face any action as per the law over the mistake," he said, while Gadhimai Municipality acting Chief Administrative Officer Nagendra Yadav said the municipality had sought clarification from the head teacher.

Chief District Officer also condemned the alcohol party on the school premises and said action would be taken as per the law.
