Rautahat Police arrested a youth after he abducted a four-year-old girl and threw her into the Lalbakaiya River, from Katahariya VDC in the district today.

Bal Kishwor Chaurasiya of Katahariya VDC had kidnapped Shila Kumari, daughter of Hiralal of Maryadpur VDC at around 1:00am yesterday. The boy kidnapped the minor while she was sleeping with her grandmother at night.

A police team deployed from Area Police Office, Garuda, arrested the boy from his house today morning.

The boy confessed his crime to the police saying that he had taken the minor in a cycle and thrown her into the Lalbakaiya River. It is said that he took the minor on the cycle belonging to Harilal.

Police said that they seized the bicycle from the boy’s house.

Inspector Keshab Regmi of Area Police Office, Garuda, said the police team was yet to find the minor’s body till today evening though the police team had carried out a massive search operation.

He said that the arrested is being kept in Area Police Office and further investigation into the case is under way.
