Brahmin set forth demand

DNAG: Members of the Brahmin community living in Chitwan and neighbouring districts have demanded a separate province. They have clamoured for a state incorporating some areas of Chitwan, Nawalparasi and Makwanpur, saying that the population of Brahmins is significant in these regions. Such raised such a voice at a programme organised by Brahmin Society, Bharatpur, last evening. The society has demanded formation of Narayani province from Daunne danda of Nawalparasi to Gadhi of eastern Makwanpur. "Till now neither Brahmins nor Chhetris have come forward demanding separate provinces. Thus, we came up with the demand for our rights," said Kashi Ram Poudel, chairman of Brahmin Society. He claimed Brahmins account for nearly half the population in the district.
