Buddhists to observe silence for peace
Dhading, October 17:
Nepal Ahinsabadi Bouddha Dharma Bishwa Shanti Chakra Sangh is organising silence sessions (Nyunge Maun brata) in 22 districts from tomorrow. Thousands of Lamas and members of the Sangh will participate in the event that will last till Vijaya Dashami. According to a central member of the Sangh, Dhansur Waiba, the programme is being organised for world peace and for the welfare of all creatures.
General secretary of the Sangh Guru Prem Dorje Ballama will preside over the programme at Semjong-1-based Gairabodh monastery. The silence sessions will also be held by Chyomo Fusung Hyolmo at Patle, Pokche Lama at Ri-2, Tersigh
Dolma at Tabel at Ri, Sonam Sangmo at Salleri, central member Waiba said. Dawa Dolma will preside over the session in Dhading’s Satyadevi-3, Revthel Darje Lama at the Maur monastery, Chhiring Dolma at the Khyaling monastery and Jyomo Shanti Dolma will preside over the session at the Nalang monastery.
Wishing for peace to souls of animals sacrificed during Dashain, silence and fast sessions will be organised Dhading, Nuwakot, Rasuwa, Sindhupalchowk, Makawanpur, Ramechhap, Lumbini (Kapilvastu) from tomorrow.
Rajan Lama of the Sangh said Lamas at the Kakani Nuwakot monastery will also observe silence.
