Budget misuse slur on parties

DAILEKH: Local residents have accused five political parties of appropriating Rs 3.5 million allocated under special project plan.

Member of Road Construction Committee Khagendra Bahadur Shahi claimed that the party leaders misused the funds allocated for the construction of the Ramghada-Lakandra road section. Nepali Congress, UCPN-Maoist and CPN-UML have been accused of misusing Rs 20,000 each while Nepal Peasants' and Workers' Party and Janamorcha have been charged of taking Rs 10,000 each for party purposes. District chairman of Rastriya Janamorcha Mayaram Adhikari said his party handed over the sum to Panchakoshi Orphanage based in Dailekh. Shahi said the parties had divided the budget among themselves, instead of constructing the road. He said Tilak Bahadur Shahi kept others in dark about the funds misuse.
