Budget session: Day 1 lasts minutes

Budget session of the Legislature Parliament began today and the first meeting of the session ended in five minutes, as it did not enter into any business.
Speaker Onsari Gharti Magar read out the letter from President Bidhya Devi Bhandari about the summoning of the House session on the recommendation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli at today’s meeting.
She also read out a letter received from the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers about the change in ministerial berths.
The House will discuss contemporary national problems on Wednesday and Thursday, as demanded by the Nepali Congress.
The NC will raise delay in reconstruction and relief works in earthquake affected areas, black marketing, slow pace in implementation of new constitution and bilateral relationship with neighbouring as well as other foreign countries.
Pre-budget discussion will be held on Friday and Saturday, according to the decision taken by today’s Business Advisory Committee.
President Bidhya Devi Bhandari will present the policy and programme of the government on May 8.
The government will table the budget of next fiscal year on May 28 as per the constitutional provision.
The government will introduce new bills and the House will proceed with 40 bills stranded in the House committees.
