BAJURA, SEPTEMBER 18
A minor has been struggling for life in a bed at Bayalpata Hospital due to lack of treatment expense.
An electricity burnt patient Charindra Buda, 13, of Swamikartikkhapar Rural Municipality has no money for treatment.
According to Dr Amul Singh at the hospital, the patient is compelled to stay in the hospital bed even though the hospital has referred him to a Kathmandu-based health facility for further treatment.
More than fifty per cent of the body was burnt. Buda was admitted to Bayalpata Hospital four days ago. He received burn injuries due to electric shock while he was grazing goats. Budha's elder brother Paras said that Charindra received the shock because there was a live wire on the ground. Paras said that Charindra was taken to India's Lucknow and received treatment for a week. "He was brought back due to lack of money," he added.
Dr Singh said that Charindra could live if he got better treatment.
"But he lacked treatment expenses," he said. Dr Singh said that Charindra had to be taken to a well facilitated hospital. Charindra is from a very poor family.
Ward No 2 Chairman of the rural municipality Bishnu Budha said that more than five lakh was spent on Charindra's treatment in India.
Paras said that Charindra was in pain so he was taken to Bayalpata Hospital as there was no other option.
He said that he urged all the helping hands for his brother's treatment.
"But we have not got any help from anyone so far," he said. Rural Municipality Chairman Bharat Bahadur Rokaya said that the rural municipality helped with Charindra's treatment. He said that the rural municipality alone could not afford all the expenses.
