Bus hit kills tiger in Bardiya

KATHMANDU: A tiger was killed when a passenger bus en route for Kathmandu hit it in the area of Bardiya National Park along the East-West Highway in Bardiya district, on Wednesday night.

The bus (Na 4 Kha 2887) heading for Kathmandu from Dhangadhi hit the tiger killing it on the spot, in the area between Chisapani Police Check Post and Ambasa at around 8:00 pm yesterday, said the Police Inspector Shankar Dutta Bhatta at Area Police Office, Bhurigaun.

The driver of the ill-fated bus, identified as Gopal Bohora (35) of Dadeldhura, had fled the scene along with the vehicle. However, heĀ  was apprehended by a team of security force deployed from the park.

Meanwhile, the park has also impounded the vehicle and is investigating into the case, said police.
