Ex-state minister among 7 killed in Dhankuta bus accident

KATHMANDU: At least seven persons died and 33 others were injured when a bus they were travelling in met with an accident at Sidhuwa in Parewadhin VDC-5 of Dhankuta district in eastern Nepal on Thursday.

According to the District Police Office, Dhankuta, one the deceased has been identified as former State Minister for Finance Hari Raj Khewa.

The identities of others are yet to be established.

Khewa was appointed the State Minister for Finance during the government led by the then Maoist leader Baburam Bhattarai.

Khewa was the Chairman of CPN Maoist Centre Dhankuta District Committee.

The injured have been sent to Dharan for treatment.

The bus (Ba 2 Kha 7366) was heading to Dharan from Sankhuwasabha when the incident occurred at around 12:15 pm.

Bus meets with accident in Dhankuta, fatalities likely

KATHMANDU: A bus met with an accident at Sidhuwa in Parewadhin VDC-5 of Dhankuta district in eastern Nepal on Thursday.

A police team is heading towards the incident site, said Assistant Sub-Inspector Raj Nayaran Nami of the District Police Office, Dhankuta.

Though police have yet to reach the incident site, around a dozen people might have died.

The bus (Ba 2 Kha 7366) was heading towards Dharan from Sankhuwasabha when the incident occurred at around 12:15 pm today, Nami added.
