Dhangadhi, November 5:

Irate locals set fire to a Dhangadhi bus bound for Tikarpur that ran over a five-year-old girl on the Khutiya section of Mahendra Highway, beat up its driver mercilessly and also staged a blockade on the highway.

Malakheti police post officials said the bus ran over five-year-old Laxmi Singh of Khutiya village in Shreepur VDC in Kailali district, killing her on the spot.

Locals torched the bus and beat up driver Ram Prasad Dangaura.

He is being treated at Padma Hospital in Attariya. They also staged a blockade after placing the girl’s body on the highway.
