Byas Municipality in Tanahun has been running without an executive officer for the past one month. The absence of a chief has hit the service seekers hard.

The office does not have a chief ever since executive officer Ramchandra Paudel was transferred to Salyan as Local Development Officer a month ago. Senior internal auditor Kumar Kanchan GC has been handed the responsibility of acting executive officer.

“Either we should be given authority or a new executive officer should be appointed soon,” GC demanded. Engineer Rabindralal Mul said the absence of an executive officer in the municipality office had affected various works, including planning agreement and passage of house designs.

It is learnt that though the Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development had decided to send Tanahun’s DDC chairman Narayan Prasad Adhikary as an acting executive officer eight days ago, he has not reported to the office.
