Bye-election likely in Kanchanpur-4?
Mahendranagar, April 23:
Rumour doing rounds is that senior leader and former prime minister, Sher Bahadur Deuba, is likely to quit CA seat in Kanchanpur-4. Hence, CPN-UML and Maoists have started door-to-door campaigning for the bye-election.
Since Deuba has expressed the wished to resign from Kanchanpur instead of Dadeldhura, the NC district leaders have intensified meetings with the people in the villages.
Maoist candidate Harish Thagunna alias Kamal lost to Deuba by about 1,000 votes. The Maoists have nominated him again to contest in the bye-election. “I will certainly win in the bye-election,” he said.
It is still not certain who the CPN-UML will nominate for the bye-election.
NC is likely to nominate former NC district chairman, Yagya Raj Joshi, for the bye-election.
