CA meet ends in 5 minutes

KATHMANDU: The Constituent Assembly (CA) meeting today lasted hardly for around five minutes as it did not have business. The CA meeting fell prey to indecisiveness of political

parties on various

unsettled issues.

Only the businesses of the meeting turned out to be changing the name of Unified CPN-Maoist representative at the Business Management Advisory Committee and approving leave of some CA members.

On the unresolved issues, neither the CA opted for voting to resolve the irritants nor have the parties come up with consensus on reports of nine thematic committees yet to be submitted to the Constitutional Committee (CC).

The reports are to be compiled into a single draft constitution.

The CA, till now, has forwarded only the reports of Committee on Natural Resources, Economic Rights and Sharing of Revenues and Committee to Determine the Structure of Constitutional Bodies to the CC. The next CA meeting is scheduled for March 21.
