CA meeting okays study team report
KATHMANDU: A meeting of the Constituent Assembly today passed the supplementary report prepared by a 15-member study team, led by CA member Agni Kharel, on CA report on Protection of Rights of the Minorities and Marginalised Communities along with its direction and suggestion to the Constitutional Committee.
It will be forwarded to the Constitutional Committee, which had remained idle without any business due to unavailability of reports from other thematic committees. With the supplementary report passed by the CA full House the Constitutional Committee has so far received reports of only three thematic committees.
Earlier, the CA full House had sent the supplementary reports of Natural Resources and Distribution of Revenues and Committee on the Constitutional Bodies.
But Constitutional Committee chairman Nilambar Acharya has been saying that his panel would not be able to start working on the first draft of the new constitution without having all the reports in place. Reports of eight more thematic committees have yet to be passed by the CA full House. Political parties have not been able to sort out differences on key constitutional issues.
