Cabinet authorises CDOs to deploy staff at rural municipalities

KATHMANDU: The government on Thursday authorised chief district officers to deploy non-gazetted staff at newly constructed rural municipalities.

A Cabinet meeting held this afternoon made the decision, the government spokesperson and Minister for Information and Communications told media after the meeting.

"The meeting decided to give the right to appoint the non-gazetted staff of administration, general administration, engineering, accounting among other services to the chief district officers of concerned districts."

Meanwhile, the Cabinet also decided to accept the Rs 10.7 billion soft loan from the International Development Association under the World Bank.

The meeting also decided that a committee under the leadership of the Minister for Industry would be formed comprising secretaries of various ministers to monitor projects involving foreign investment.

Meanwhile, Karki informed that the Cabinet did not make any decision regarding recovering the capital gains tax from Ncell as rumoured in the public.
