Cabinet nod to promotions

Kathmandu, October 25:

The cabinet promoted joint-secretary Dinesh Hari Adhikari as acting-secretary and assigned him for the management of Maoist cantonments.

Ganesh Raj Joshi has been promoted as acting secretary and moved to the Information Commission. Joint-secretary Yagya Prasad Gautam has also been promoted as acting secretary and assigned to Municipality Management under the Local Development Ministry. Suresh Kumar Varma as acting-secretary and assigned as executive director at the Office of Nepal Trust.

Nathu Prasad Chaudhary has been promoted as acting-secretary and moved to the Vice President’s Office, Ram Sworup Sinha as acting-secretary and assigned to the Ministry of Education (Basic Education), Dr Dirgha Singh Bam as acting-secretary and moved to Ministry of Health and Population, Dr Sudha Sharma as acting-secretary and assigned to the Ministry of Health and Population.

The cabinet meeting also appointed regional administrators in all five development regions. Acting-secretary Dip Basnet has been appointed eastern regional administrator, Rudra Kumar Shrestha as western regional administrator, Ananda Prasad Pokharel as central regional administrator, Binod Gyawali as mid-western regional administrator and Hari Prasad Nepal as far-western regional administrator.

The cabinet meeting, however, could not take any decision on the proposed special committee to supervise, adjust and rehabilitate the Maoist combatants. The four major parties — CPN-Maoist, Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, and Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum - had reached an informal understanding to form the committee headed by a UML leader with one representative from the respective parties to it.
