Call to lift blockade

PHIDIM: Former speaker of the Constituent Assembly Subash Chandra Nembang today urged the agitating Madhes-based parties to lift the blockade at border checkpoints.

Speaking at a function in Phidim, former speaker Nembang said that the ongoing agitation in the plains, especially after promulgation of the new constitution, was not in favour of the country.

“The protracted blockade can be justified in no way,” said Nembang. Stating that the new constitution is a common document of all the parties that fought for democracy, he said, “The dispute over the provincial boundaries and their nomenclature will be settled by the provincial assembly.

Hence, there is no point in continuing the protest,” he said.
