Call to resume flights

Rajbiraj, April 24

Locals of Rajbiraj, Saptari have called for the resumption of flights at the only airport in the district as soon as possible citing the hassles they are facing.

Flights to and from Rajbiraj Airport that came into operation about one year ago following its upgradation have been halted since April 1 after the only aircraft operating flights from the airport was grounded professedly for maintenance of the aircraft.

After concretisation of the runway, repair of the tower and black-topping of the taxiway, flights from the airport had resumed from May last year. Having started its services with five flights in a week, Shree Airlines had limited its flights to three a week later.

“After the upgradation, we had hoped the flights would be regular, but to no avail. Barely 11 months after the airport resumed, the airline company stopped its flights suddenly,” said Civil Network Saptari Chair Sukharam Yadav.
