Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security Krishna Kumar Shrestha has stressed the need for the Newar community to rise above party politics and show unity.
Inaugurating the second convention of the Newa: Dey Dabu Bhanu Municipal Coordinating Committee held at Baisjangar of Bhanu Municipality yesterday, he stressed the need to avoid party politics for the benefit of the Newar community.
"People from the Newar community are affiliated to the Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, CPN-Maoist Centre and CPN (Unified Socialist). However, Newars must unite for the welfare of their community," he said.
Referring to his Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security, he said the ministry was very challenging and that he was engaged in a campaign to end all kinds of anomalies there. "I am working to live up to people's expectations. I have tried to include everyone, without looking for political gains," he added.
Yesterday Minister Shrestha visited the family of Prakash Adhikari, 42, of Farakchaur in Tanahun's Byas Municipality, who died in Malaysia. Adhikari reportedly died of a heart attack after reaching his room from work.
Minister Shrestha said work was being carried out to bring back the his body home from Malaysia.
The Foreign Employment Board under the ministry makes arrangements to bring the body home in case of the death of a worker abroad. In addition, there is a provision to provide Rs 700,000 as compensation.
