Captive made to toil for Maoist cadre

Itahari, July 31:

Ram Bahadur Magar (58), of Khanar-9 in Sunsari, has accused a Maoist cadre, Manohar Chaudhari, of forcing him to toil for personal gains. Two years ago, the Maoists had taken Magar captive on the charge of raping his daughter, who was born of his first wife.

Last week, the Maoists had decided to keep them in a labour camp and involve him in social work.

“After the decision to keep me in the labour camp, my daughter has gone out of contact,” Magar said.

“At first, Manohar, the Maoist cadre, forced me to work in his house. Nowadays, he sends me to plough the field of a landlord in Sonapur,” he said.

“Manohar does not alos pay me for my work, but forces me to toil in the landlord’s home. He threatens to shoot me if I refuse to obey his orders.” Manohar said: “We can do anything to the captives kept in Maoists’ labour camps. I take his salary from the landlord and deposit it in the party’s fund.”

However, Ram Kumari Chaudhari, chief of the Maoists’ Madhesh autonomous district people’s government, said, “Manohar is using Magar for private purposes, which is against the policy of our party. We had decided to involve Magar in social works.”

“It’s a mendacity of Manohar. We will launch an investigation into the matter and punish Manohar for his actions,” Chaudhari said.
