DAMAK: A woman died after she was knocked by a car in Damak Municipality-4 of Jhapa district this morning.

The deceased has been identified as Sitamaya Khadka (55) of Sakela Rural Municipality in Khotang district. She had been living in the municipality's ward no. 9.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Shyamal Subba at Damak-based Area Police Office, the car (Ba 17 Cha 8172) hit Khadka while she was crossing the road along the East-West Highway this morning.

Critically injured Khadka breathed her last on the way to local Lifeline Hospital, police informed.

Meanwhile, police have taken the car driver under control for investigation.
